The Hackett Theatre Program is excited to announce that their fall production will be Rip Van Winkle! There are many students that will be auditioning for this play hoping to get the various roles that they desire. The show is written by a senior, Parker Hosner. Although Parker has written the play, a teacher here, Mr. Rafferty will be the one directing it.

Rip Van Winkle has an intriguing storyline . It is about a kind-hearted Dutch-American villager who, in the process of escaping his annoying wife, wanders into the Catskill Mountains and falls asleep for roughly twenty years. He awakens to a completely different world that he was living in before he fell asleep, and the play goes through the challenges that he had to face to get his life back to normal.

Parker was interviewed and asked a series of questions: Why did you choose Rip Van Winkle to create a play about? Are you excited to see your ideas played out on the stage? And how long did it take you to write the play? His answers were very unique, he said he thought of the Rip Van Winkle idea when he was asked to adapt a short story from long ago. Parker also mentioned he is excited to see the actors make this play from his head to the stage. Parker began the play in March and ended it in early August, that makes five months of working on it! We are all very excited to see our fall play, it will be one not to miss!
