The 2026 March Madness recently concluded with Michigan beating UConn 69-63 in the national championship, giving Michigan their first national title since 1989. Michigan head coach, Dusty May can be largely attributed to the success of the team because of his high game IQ and calmness under pressure, making him able to make decisions that can give the team advantages. May was previously the head coach at FAU for 6 seasons before coming to Michigan in 2024.

A junior point guard, Elliot Cadue was given the most outstanding player award. Cadue was a key component for Michigan because of his ability to score over tall defenders in the paint and also be able to find open teammates to pass to in split second decisions. Cadue was just one of Michigains very talented players, some others include but not limited to, Yaxel Lendenborg, Aday Mara, and Morez Johnson Jr. . Another Michigan feat is beating 1 seed, Arizona in the final four by a whopping 18 points. This blowout shocked everyone and finally made people believe Michigan isn't messing around this year.

An interesting fact about this year's Wolverines is that they're the first team in history to win a NCAA championship while starting all transfers. Elliot Cadeau (Guard): Transferred from North Carolina Nimari Burnett (Guard): Started at Texas Tech, then Alabama before Michigan Roddy Gayle Jr. (Guard): Transferred from Ohio State Morez Johnson Jr. (Forward): Transferred from Illinois Aday Mara (Center): Transferred from UCLA.
