More Than Love…an Act of Bravery

The common Catholic Feast Day, we have celebrated for decades, happens to be The common Catholic Feast Day, we have celebrated for decades, happens to be this Wednesday! However, many of us don’t actually know what it means and why we celebrate it to begin with. While it is common amongst people to go to mass, it is something that is a big deal regarding going to a Catholic School.

What does it mean for it to be All Souls Day, well it is celebrated on November 2nd. This is a day to remember all of the faithful who have unfortunately departed from the world. We mainly focus on the idea of praying for the souls who are in purgatory so that they get to enjoy the everlasting happiness in Heaven. However, it IS different from All Souls Day which is to commemorate all the saints, canonized or not, and remember their acts of bravery. 

All Souls Day is similar to a hispanic holiday known as Dias De Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Both holidays focus on remembering the dead. Not only this, they also have similar ways of celebrating this special day. The majority of people decorate the graves, go to mass, offer prayers, and some even make traditional foods to represent them. Both holidays focus on the beauty of life, and the beauty of the afterlife in heaven.
