With the soccer season’s official ending, it calls for a time of reflection on how the season went. As for the soccer team record, Hackett had a record of 7-7-5. Due to the strength of schedule the boys played against, this record is solid for the”young” soccer team. On top of this, Hackett placed 2nd in their conference, only behind their rivals, Kalamazoo Christian. Hackett played Kalamazoo Christian twice, one time during the regular season and one time in the playoffs. During the regular season, Hackett lost 3-1, and in the playoffs Hackett lost in the 8th round of the shootout, ending their season.
During the season, Hackett was led by three seniors, James Scothorn, Cullen Mcbride, and Sean Seims. All served as captains on the team, providing a role of both leadership and skill for the team. Junior, Santiago Ochoa, also served as a captain on the team, consistently being an asset on the team, and showing he will continue to be one on Hackett’s team next year.

At the end of the season, all three seniors received All-State Honors. Cullen McBride received an All-State Second Team award. Junior, Santiago Ochoa, and sophomore goalie, Jack Henderson, received All-District Honors as a reward for their performance during the season.
Overall, despite the fact that Hackett had a poor record then the past three years, it serves as more of a developmental year for the program. With only 3 seniors, and 6 upperclassmen total, we knew it was going to be a challenging year playing at the varsity level. Yet, there is not doubt, the Hackett Boys’ Soccer team has a bright future for the upcoming season.
