Senior Flu or Senior Shenanigans?

Monday, November 3, 2025: I park my car just like any other day, but I notice many open senior parking spots. “Well I did arrive a few minutes earlier than usual,” I think to myself. I am sure as the day goes on I will see more of my classmates. The day went on and I sat in empty classrooms with the same question repeating in my head: did my classmates get infected with the senior flu? Or is it just some more senior shenanigans?

Obviously, it is not unlikely for seniors to slack off in their last year of high school. But, almost a whole class of seniors all not showing up on the same day? Sounds quite suspicious. There could be a simple explanation. This past weekend was Halloween and it is possible everyone got together and contracted the same virus. But what are the chances that everyone caught the exact same virus at the same time? And all were not well enough to attend school? Sounds unlikely… but who knows crazier things have happened.

I go to sleep Monday night worried about my fellow classmates. Tuesday morning I wake up and drive to school, but instead of an empty parking lot I see a full parking lot, with all the senior spots filled. Confused, I walk into my first hour and see my seniors classmates’ faces, all healthy and very much alive. As I move from period to period I ask them all what they were doing yesterday, but they all have the same story; “I was sick.” With no evidence of foul play we are all forced to move on with our lives. I guess we can assume but never truly know; was it a case of senior flu? Or was it senior shenanigans?
