A future wildcat, Leah Smith, a senior at Hackett, plans to attend the University of Kentucky, or UK. Leah plans to major in Sports Communications and double minor in Sports Journalism along with Media Arts and Studies. With this in mind, she has many hopes and interests for a career choice. She plans to keep her options open and have a career as either a sideline reporter, sports broadcaster or maybe even take her love for photography and become a sports photographer/videographer.

When asked about her time at Hackett, her all time favorite memory was painting the senior parking spots with everyone. She explained that she enjoyed hanging out with the senior girls and bonding with them before we all go our separate ways. It was a rather sentimental moment especially since the girls in our grade are all really close. Painting the spots together just resembles how much we’ve all grown. She also stated that she would miss her friends a lot, especially since she is going out of state, she will not get to see them that often.

However, even though she will miss her friends, she is looking forward to the experience college brings. “I am looking forward to watching all of the sports, but mostly I'm so excited to make new friends and also have the chance to be somewhere warm.” Ultimately, Leah shared just how excited she is about the new sense of freedom college has to offer and being able to pursue her career choice, especially since journalism is something that she loves doing. She is also looking forward to growing as a person and pursuing the best version of herself. She hopes to join a volleyball club during her time at UK since she has played club volleyball and school volleyball.

With all of this in mind, she will be missed by the Hackett community but will go on to do great things. Congratulations Leah and go wildcats!
