Leland Berg, soon to be Charger, has committed to Hillsdale College for Division II basketball. Hillsdale College, which is located in southern Michigan, is a private Christian college. Leland, who has been a part of Catholic schools majority of his life, plans to major in Financial Management and maybe even Entrepreneurship as well. When asked why, he said that he wants a good job revolving around building relationships with others and networking amongst other businesses. Business has always been an interest of Leland’s. During his time at Hackett, he is responsible for putting together a club at Hackett known as Distributive Education Clubs of America, or DECA.

When it comes to Hackett related things, Leland’s favorite memory at Hackett was junior year homecoming. “This was a super fun night and I really enjoyed the fact that the dance was outside under a tent.” He enjoys the people at Hackett, especially his friends. That is one thing that he will miss the most, the relationships he built with his friends. He will also miss the teachers and playing sports with his friends that he practically grew up with. However, with all the sadness that surrounds leaving his friends, he is excited to move away from home and for the college experience. He is specifically looking forward to traveling for basketball season and meeting new people. He also hopes to gain a sense of independence, freedom, and to ultimately grow as a person.
When it comes to clubs in college, he hopes to join a DECA club or maybe even a golf club. These are just a few things that Leland participated in during his time at Hackett. As senior year wraps up, Hackett congratulates Leland on such a big accomplishment. Best of luck and go Chargers!
