Many students are upset about the new dresscode claiming that it doesn’t make a difference and many people don’t understand why these new changes exist. One of the seniors, Paige Zeigler, says "While understanding the need for a dress code and for the uniforms as to aid in unity, it feels like the focus is too much on the dress code and not enough about other issues occurring in the school. As long as we are still being modest, why change what already works and has worked for so long?"Another student, James Scothorn stated that, "I don't necessarily think it helps with the learning process, but makes us look united as a community." Many of the students are not fond of the new changes and don’t understand why the policy was changed so suddenly.

However, both Mr. Scoles and Mr. White had a different way of looking at it. Mr. Scoles believed that the “Sweatshirt policy” was a trial period to see students express themselves and school spirit. Unfortunately, they didn’t see this and instead saw more students out of dress code than before. This led to the removal of it being “everyday” wear. As for the formal wear, Mr. Scoles stated, "They have always explored the formal option; it just wasn’t implemented. We had many ongoing conversations with LAC and decided it was best for Hackett."

Mr. White also had nothing but positive things to say about the uniform. He believes that the new uniform policy, “committed to the culture and spirit.” He explained into detail how the uniforms and the new formal wear help prepare Hackett students for the professional world. Since we are used to following a dress code, it gives us a better idea as to what to wear for formal interviews and how to be successful in the job force. In his own words, “It’s a part of our culture!” Both Mr. Scoles and Mr. White have provided a new and more positive way of looking at the situation. Everybody has their own opinions, what do you think about the new dress code?
